About...
Rev. Dr. Don Chatfield serves as the Lead Pastor of All Souls Interfaith Gathering in Shelburne, Vermont. Don oversees a ministerial team of three and a staff of two to provide spiritual programming for the congregation. At All Souls he provides regular talks during Sunday services, leads Pastor’s Orientation Classes, and teaches four Pastor’s Classes each year. He serves as the co-director, along with his wife Karen, of the All Souls School of Spiritual Direction, a two-year program providing training for spiritual companions. Prior to coming to All Souls, Don was the Executive Director of the Osage Forest of Peace from 2015 to 2019, serving an interspiritual contemplative community and retreat center near Tulsa, Oklahoma. At the Forest of Peace, Don provided regular meditation leadership, assisted with weekly services, and coordinated interfaith retreats. Don and his wife Karen co-founded the Osage Forest of Peace School of Spiritual Direction, a two-year program training spiritual companions. Upon receiving his interfaith minister credential and ordination through the Emerson New Thought Center in 2008, Rev. Don founded La Cholla Center for Integrative Spirituality, in Tucson, Arizona. Along with his wife Karen, Don provided weekly services, meditation sessions, courses on the mystics, and silent retreats. La Cholla Center for Integrative Spirituality operated from 2008 through 2015 under the umbrella of the Emerson New Though Center, church without walls. Rev. Don was first ordained in the protestant church on March 20, 1977 and served a variety of faith communities and nonprofit organizations over the years. He served as the Executive Director of the Primavera Foundation in Tucson, an organization serving the homeless and working poor. He was the Chief Operating Officer of the Sonoran Institute, a West-wide conservation organization with offices in five states and Mexico. He holds four master's degrees: an M.Div. in theology, an M.S. in Land Use and the Environment, an M.A. in Organizational Development, and an M.S. in Professional Counseling. His Ph.D. focused on community development, with a dissertation that focused on the most important elements for creating a strong community. Don is an avid bicycle rider and snow skier, enjoying both cross country and downhill skiing. He and Karen love to travel in new and off the beaten path spots.
